This past December, Toyota revealed a small, boxy, ultra-modern off-road SUV with heavy cladding, a and industrial looking roof rack. They have so far called this SUV a Compact Cruiser EV, and here is what we know so far.

Toyota’s Compact Cruiser won a 2022 Car Design Award at Milano Design Week. The Compact Cruiser takes styling cues from the first generation Land Cruiser, with their anticipated target buyer – “young, professional urban dwellers who enjoy active outdoor leisure interests”

With hints of the FJ Cruiser iconic grille and headlights,  paired with secondary light unit. The side profile boasts notched fenders, strong hip and shoulder lines, and the FJ Cruiser’s signature sloping roofline.  Current expectation is that the production version should come with AWD — if it’s not standard.

Toyota has not yet revealed a launch date for the Compact Cruiser EV, but we expect it to be relatively soon. Toyota made a public promise to launch 15 new BEVS by 2025 – are you excited for the launch of this new Compact Cruiser? We are!
